Part 1 - Introduction and Interview

Question 1: When did you start using the Internet?

Sample Answer: I started using the Internet when I was around 10 years old. At first, it was mostly for playing online games and watching cartoons. Later on, I used it for studying, doing homework, and communicating with my friends. Now, it’s a big part of my daily life.

Question 2: How often do you use the Internet?

Sample Answer: Oh, wow, that's a tough one because it really depends! I'd say I'm online pretty much every day, but it varies wildly. Some days I'm just checking emails and social media quickly, maybe for half an hour. Other days, especially if I'm researching for university or working on a project, I can easily spend four or five hours online. So I guess there's no single answer, it's really quite inconsistent!

Question 3: Do you use the Internet much during the day?

Sample Answer: Yes, I use the Internet a lot for both work and entertainment. I need it for research, emails, and online classes. During breaks, I also check social media or watch videos. It’s a big part of my daily routine, but I try not to overuse it.

Question 4: How does the Internet influence people?

Sample Answer: The Internet influences people in many ways. It makes communication faster and learning more accessible, which is really helpful for students and workers. At the same time, it can be addictive and affect people’s attention spans or mental health. Social media especially has a big impact on how people think and behave. So I think it’s both useful and risky, depending on how you use it.

Question 5: What would you do without the Internet?

Sample Answer: Oh wow, that's a tough one! I guess life would be a lot slower, for starters. I rely on the internet for pretty much everything – my university coursework, obviously, finding information for essays and research papers is so much easier online. I'd probably spend a lot more time at the library, which wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but it’s less convenient. And socially, it would be a huge shift. Keeping in touch with friends and family who live far away would be much harder, I’d have to rely on letters or phone calls more. I’d probably read more physical books – actually, that sounds quite nice! But honestly, a lot of my entertainment comes from streaming services, so I’d have to find new hobbies, maybe get back into painting or something. It would be a pretty significant adjustment, and I think I’d initially feel quite lost without it, but maybe I’d discover some things I enjoy that I’ve overlooked because of how easy the internet makes things.
