Part 1 - Introduction and Interview

Question 1: Do you like singing?

Sample Answer: Um, it's kind of a mixed bag, really. I mean, I enjoy listening to music, a lot actually, especially things with really strong vocals. But singing myself? It's... well, let's just say I appreciate the art more than I excel at it. I've tried karaoke a couple of times with friends, and it's always fun, but I wouldn't say I'm particularly good. I’m definitely more of a background singer than a lead vocalist! I much prefer to just hum along quietly to myself when I’m listening to music at home.

Question 2: Does your school teach you to sing?

Sample Answer: No, not really. We have music classes, but it's more about learning the theory – like reading music, understanding different rhythms and musical styles. We might sing a little bit in class sometimes, maybe to practice rhythm or learn a simple song, but it's not a focus at all. It's more of a general introduction to music, not a vocal training program. If I wanted to learn to sing properly, I’d have to take lessons outside of school.

Question 3: Do many people in Vietnam know how to sing?

Sample Answer: Yes, I think a lot of people in Vietnam enjoy singing, even if they’re not professional singers. Karaoke is very popular here, and people often sing at family gatherings or with friends. Some are quite talented, while others just sing for fun. It’s a common way to relax and have a good time.

Question 4: Did you enjoy singing when you were younger?

Sample Answer: Oh, it's a bit of a mixed bag, really. I mean, I wasn't *terrible*, and I definitely loved performing – I remember doing karaoke with my family all the time and getting really into it, belting out Disney songs at the top of my lungs! But I was never technically very good. I lacked proper training, and I always got a bit nervous singing in front of anyone outside my family. So, while I enjoyed the fun and expressive aspect of it, I wouldn't say I *loved* singing, not in the way some of my friends did who were actually quite talented. It was more of a fun hobby than a serious passion.

Question 5: Have you ever learnt how to sing?

Sample Answer: Oh, yeah, kind of! I took a few singing lessons when I was about twelve, mostly because my best friend was obsessed with pop music and wanted us to form a band. We never actually got very far with the band thing – it was more wishful thinking than anything! But I did learn some basic vocal techniques, like breathing exercises and how to hit certain notes. I wouldn't say I'm a great singer by any means, I'm still pretty tone-deaf sometimes, but I learned to appreciate the effort and technique that goes into singing. It was fun while it lasted, though. I still occasionally mess around with karaoke, but I definitely wouldn't call myself a singer!

Question 6: Who do you want to sing for?

Sample Answer: Oh, that's a fun question! I think if I could sing for anyone, it would be my grandmother. She's always been such a huge supporter of mine, even when I was just a kid messing around with karaoke. She has this amazing, warm smile and a real appreciation for music, even if I'm not the best singer. It would just mean the world to me to be able to perform for her, especially a song that reminds me of our time together. Maybe something a little sentimental, like a classic from her era. It'd be really special.

Question 7: Do you think singing can bring happiness to people?

Sample Answer: Yes, definitely. Singing is a great way to express emotions and relieve stress. Even if someone doesn’t sing well, it can still be fun and uplifting. In Vietnam, karaoke is very popular for this reason. It brings people together and creates a joyful atmosphere.
